announcing our 2025 annual appeal

As we conclude an extraordinary year of adventurous performances, BlackBox is excited to launch the most ambitious fundraising campaign in our organization’s history: Unbox the Future: 10K to New Year’s Day! We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by New Year’s Day to support more new music in the new year.

In 2025, we made our debut at the Bang on a Can Long Play Festival, performed at the Whitney Museum, and joined Kyle Marshall Choreography Company for performances at the PS21 Center for Contemporary Performance. And in a few short weeks, we will make our debut at National Sawdust! Coming up in 2026, we’re looking forward to a return trip to the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, alongside two performances in NYC. We will also continue our educational work with residencies around the country - including at the University of Richmond, where we are proud to be Artists-in-Residence this season.

This is where you come in. By contributing to this campaign, you are supporting the exciting projects of our coming season and laying the foundation for our ensemble’s future. Your donation will directly support our artists, bolster our educational work serving the next generation of composers, and help us to develop future projects with our ever-expanding roster of collaborators. Your generous support also makes our pay-what-you-wish ticketing for self-produced performances possible, ensuring that our ambitious performances are accessible to all audience members.
